Why we exist.

Companion birds deserve food that is built around what they actually need. Not what is cheapest to produce, not what looks good in a bowl, and not what the industry settled on decades ago because nobody questioned it. Food that is formulated to a veterinary standard, with the right nutrients in the right ratios, designed to support a bird throughout its entire life.

That standard did not exist in South Africa. Nature’s Nest was built to set it.

The industry got this wrong for a long time.

Seeds became the default bird diet because they are familiar, birds eat them willingly, and nobody looked too closely at what they leave out. What they leave out is most of what a bird needs  -  the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that support long-term health. A bird fed on seeds can survive. The question is for how long, and in what condition.

Most owners feeding seed diets are not making a careless choice. They are making an uninformed one. Nature’s Nest exists to close that gap  -  honestly, without alarm, and with something genuinely better to offer.

What vet-formulated actually means.

Not reviewed by a vet after the fact. Formulated from the ground up, by veterinarians with experience in avian health, with long-term physiological health as the only goal.
